First Ever USF Metalfest

For those interested in the local music scene, come to the USF Marshall Center Sunday, Feb. 20th at 8:00 for USF's first annual Heavy Metal Festival! There is a big lineup of local metal bands, and of course lots of food and drinks. The event costs $10 per individual, and all profits are being donated to a local charity. Some of the bands include: Sanctum, Widowmaker, and Still Life: A Tribute To Opeth, among other acts we plan on making known at a later date. This is USF's first ever metal festival, and let's all make it one to remember!

Paranormal Activity 2 - Review

Paranormal Activity 2 was released on October 22, 2010, by Paramount Pictures. The second installment in the horror series, the trailers managed to scare both fans of the first movie and those new to the series. But does the movie stand up to the hype?

STORY
The story begins a few months before the first Paranormal Activity, focusing on a family of four, including a newborn baby. It manages to tie in events from the first movie, as well as keep the audience interested for a while. However, the movie feels like it takes too long to establish a connection with the family and the story as a whole, repeatedly cutting to installed security cameras to show nothing truly happening. However, once the action begins, the story is interesting enough to keep your attention to the film.

CONTENT
Watching as someone who had not seen the first movie but was later informed of some of the information from it, I didn't feel like I had missed anything that took me away from the movie but still would've been able to piece some things together better had I seen the movie. For example, when Micah and Katie, the characters from the first movie, are introduced, I thought they were just friends who weren't necessarily important; on-screen subtitles then tell when Micah was killed, and a friend told me that his death was part of the first movie.
